NAPLES


Our welcoming starts in Naples, with our famous and legendary hospitality.

The origin of this incredible city is very ancient, around the 4th century B.C. when the Greeks have colonized the gulf of Naples. The original name giving by the Greeks was Partenope, because the shape of the coast remembers the beautiful siren Parthenopes, a mythological figure half woman and half fish. Then when the city start to expanded (because the Greek victory over the Etruscans), the name was changed to Neapoli (New City). At the fall of the Roman Empire, for Naples and all the Campania region has been a long period of several dominions: Bizantini, Normanni, Svevi, Angioini, Aragonesi, Spagnoli (the longest one) and Borboni, until 1861 when Italy united. Because this, is impossible to explain the various souls of this incredible city. This beautiful town is being an inspiration place for many artists, poets, painters and famous travellers. Various cultural, historical and gastronomic tours can be done in Naples. POMPEII



Pompeii a city constructed on a surface of approximately 66 hectares, a huge city for the time. Its importance as trades center is developed more and more since Pompeii was important and flourishing center for handicraft activities, like demonstrates the shops discovered in all the territory. To all this activities of trading a first blow was give in the year 62 A.D., when Pompeii experienced a terrible earthquake. But the inhabitants of Pompeii are not discouraged, and have begun to reconstruct Pompeii even more beautiful. During this reconstruction, in the year 79 A.D. – August 24th around noon a catastrophe of enormous proportions hit Pompeii; Ash, gas, stones and lapilli from the explosion of Mount Vesuvio destroyed everything on his passage. For more than 1000 years Pompeii was buried, till the first discoveries of the sixteenth century with the arrivals of the Bourbon dynasty. Since the mid 17th century Pompeii become one of the favorite archaeological destination for the greatest travelers and historians of the period. But for having an exact idea of the archaeological findings we must attend the half of 1800, when the Neapolitan professor of archaeology, Nicola Fiorelli has begun to classify all the found material, an enormous amount of work that is continued from 1924 to 1961 from another great archaeologist, Amedeo Maiuri. Still today we can admire the treasures of priceless historical value in one of the more important museums in the world. “the archaeological museum of Naples„. HERCULANEUM



The city of Hercules (Herakles) destroyed the same day of Pompeii (August 24th 79 A.D.). The city of Herculaneum was considered
a beautiful resort for rich merchants, generals and also roman Senators, in fact many luxury residences was founded, with incredible frescos, mosaics and many beautiful tiling floor and very precious marble. Since the first excavation in 1711, the repertory founded in Herculaneum give the idea of a very different type of city. You can have the same impression touring around and see how the rich people of the time enjoyed their life.

VESUVIUS



What we know is that the formation of this volcano is begun approximately 35.000 years ago and first reported explosion that we know
about it is the one of the year 79 A.D. August 24th. The last time the mount Vesuvio exploded was in beginning of the 16 hundred but the last eruption is dated 1944 since than the volcano is sleeping but active and for this reason mount Vesuvio is considered the most dangerous volcano in Europe. Today the summit of the cone is 1281 mt, the other pick next to the main crater is Mount Somma, 1133 mt., and they are separated by a valley called “Valley of the giants”. Mt Vesuvio is the location of the oldest scientific institution for the study of volcanos “Osservatorio Vesuviano” dated 1841. In 1991 the institution of “Vesuvius National Park „ was created together with Biosphere Reserve protected by Unesco. This create beauty and history, a perfect combination for unforgettable tour.

SORRENTO



The entire coast of Sorrento includes the following nice little towns: Vico Equense, Meta, Piano, S. Agnello and Sorrento. Driving
trough these beautiful places and natural cliffs of Monti Lattari, we gradually arrive to the charming town of Sorrento with its beautiful beaches.
The incredible landscape of Sorrento is one of the most famous tourist attraction in Italy. The houses are surrounded by very lush vegetation and plantations of olive, lemon and oranges trees. POSITANO



Situated on the cliff of a mountain, enclosed by the rich Mediterranean vegetation, Positano is a true gem.
Colorful and natural site of incredible beauty. This ancient village was been found by a Roman colony coming from south, exactly from Paestum. In modern era the village is developed vertically, the small houses are painted in pastel colors giving the impression of colorful dots. The small beaches of Fornillo, Fiumicello, and Arienzo invite you to swim or dive in its incredible sea water. At few miles from the coast there’s an archipelago made from three small islets: “Ligalli„ or “Syrenuse„ because here they have been considered the place of the sirens, the mythological figures half women and half fish. This small archipelago in past was the summer private residence of the famous Russian dancer Rudolf Nureyev and in his memory Positano organize every year the “Positano international award for the art of dance„. Positano is the unforgettable vacations destination for VIPs artists, designers and movie stars. But of course everybody can appreciate the beauty of this magical place.

AMALFI



The origins of the city go back to the roman empire. Late has become the territory of the ducato of Naples, till the 839 when
Amalfi was rebelled to the tyranny of the prince of Benevento, SICARDI, becoming the first republic of sea in Italy. They have become a true military power and trades so that they can command the markets of the Mediterranean for almost 3 centuries. It has issued they commercial sea laws, the famous tables of Amalfi that was the first code navigation, and therefore they was copy from the other mariner republics. Using is own currency (Tari), shortly a true power of the time. The city of Amalfi was also famous for its factories of paper, and this art of the craftsmen has been known in all Europe, a process that continues today although in reduced measure. Tests of this old job still are preserved in the museum of paper in Amalfi. Walking trough its streets and colourful shops, you will catch up the public square where many characteristic stores and many café, render this nice square a place of lively reunions. In the square you also admire the majestic stairway of the cathedral of S. Andrea, a cathedral constructed the ninth century with a façade composed from beautiful mosaics and a beautiful bronze door of Byzantine age. Also for the vicinity of beautiful places like Praiano, Conca dei marini, Amalfi is considered the heart and spirit of the coast.

RAVELLO



Ravello is another charming location of the coast. Perched at 350 meters over sea level with the magical architecture effects.
Its name also is cited in many poems for example the Boccaccio’s “Decameron„. Famous for its tranquil atmosphere, Ravello offers architectural gems of elegance and beauty, because this small medieval city has been inhabited by aristocratic families and the rich traders who have constructed the palaces and villas that fortunately still are maintained in perfect state and can be visited. Villa Rufolo for example, dated in 13th century with its green, beautiful and exotic park. Another example is villa Cimbrone, where the great composer Wagner had the inspiration for the garden of Klingsor, in its Parsifal opera. Every summer in the garden of these villas and other palaces take place the concerts of the world famous “Ravello music festival„. Ravello is considered a unique place for poetry and music.

CAMPI FLEGREI - The Phlegrean fields


Another area of ancient fascination history are the Phlegrean Fields where myth and legend are mixed in a charming landscape. The Phlegrean fields
are interesting also for the volcanic activity - Solfatara. The Greek start to colonize this area in the first millenium B.C. and Cuma was the first Greek Colony in western area. The all Phlegrean Fields are huge volcanic area that extended from the gulf of Naples at Posillipo hills. The Phlegrean area was for the Roman Empire, very important commercial and military speaking, in particular the area of Puteoli (Pozzuoli) and Miseno where the Roman fleet was station till when the phenomena called bradyseism (to increase or to lower the level of the land) begin. This is the reason why we have so many interesting archeological site in this area. We can suggest you to tour the archeological park of Cuma, the castle of Baia, the temple of Serapide in Pozzuoli, the Flavian Amphitheatre also in Pozzuoli and many others. The volcanic nature of the zone is clear visible, and some craters have become important lakes, like the Averno lake, the place of "Tempio d' Apollo„ or the Fusaro Lake, the site of “Casino Reale„ a rococo’s style villa designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli for Ferdinando di Borbone for his hunting resting place. Tour the Phlegrean Fields is suggested also because is not to far from Naples.
